About Broadcast Bulletin

First of all, THANK YOU SO MUCH for your interest in my podcast and wanting to learn more about it, about me, and why I chose to do it. It's so gratifying you took the time out of your day to stumble upon us and listen in to all that we have to offer.

Given that you probably some type of interest or connection to journalism, it's only fitting that you have questions for us. Here are the basics.

WHO AM I?

Someone who is passionate about the television news industry. I knew we wanted to be involved in the industry from a young age. You could call me a "news junkie".  I constantly watching news, read industry sites, and just have a general desire to keep up with what's going on in the world around me.

WHY START A PODCAST?

I want to showcase the unique industry of TV news, as told through the stories of those who have been there. After all, the people you see, or saw, on TV are professional storytellers, and it's only fitting they share their stories. We think their stories and how they came to be where they're at now, and what they've seen in the newsroom are equally as interesting as the stories they tell on TV.

Additionally, there are so many things news consumers and those already in, or are looking to enter the industry do not know, and this is the perfect way to peel back a layer of something so many of us consume.

I want this show to appeal to everyone. Industry veterans, aspiring journalists, news junkies, and even the casual viewer.  It is my hope that the insights our guests bring will help you learn things you've never known before.

The opinions of our guests are solely theirs and not of past or present employers.

WHERE CAN I FIND YOU?

Given that the subject is television news, it's only fitting that this podcast be a video-driven one, so our YouTube channel has the "main" version of the podcast that you can watch.

But if you want to listen, here's where you can find us: Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeartRadio, Amazon Podcasts, TuneIn, and Pocket Casts!

Should we be on another app? Let us know!

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.

Mission Statement

To inform anyone interested in television news on the latest happenings in the industry, interspersed with insight from those on the inside.

The Host Behind Broadcast Bulletin

Jim Stanton

Host; Executive Producer

Jim is a native of San Antonio, TX and has lived there his entire life. He has been fascinated by the television medium since his childhood. While friends his age watched cartoons, Jim was always watching the local news. When he found out he could get paid to work in the news, he was hooked!

Later, he interned at a local news station while in high school with the goal of completing a 4-year degree and becoming a news producer. He also did behind the scenes work while there as well. While he gained a great deal of knowledge and appreciation for local broadcast journalism as a result, life had different plans. Jim currently works full-time in a different industry, but continues to follow the media business closely, reading all of the industry sites and streaming local news across America.

When he's not busy with work, Jim currently spends most of his spare time running the Studio 31 Media Archive YouTube channel, which archives broadcast news, commercial, and promotional content from the 1970s to now, with an emphasis on the present day.

Jim oversees all aspects for the podcast including: booking guests, updating the website, and producing and uploading episodes.
